Although velomobiles are currently being used by some people in Europe as practical and environmentally responsible means of personal transportation, there are still relatively few being used in North America. Many people are aware that the supply of fossil fuels is finite and their overuse has negative environmental consequences, however, relatively few are aware of the imminence of Hubbert's Peak (Aka peak oil), even though it is possible that we are right now beginning to feel it's effects, and that these could mean dire consequences for society. Alternate solutions to our total dependence on fossil fuels are required NOW! I feel that the velomobile has a role to play as part of the solution here in North America.
